There is much excitement and anticipation as our INresidence team plans a big release from legendary Scott Weiland!

“What we’ve come up with is really heavy, slinky, and sexy,” says Weiland.

As reported earlier in Rolling StoneScott Weiland, “one of rock’s most dynamic front men” (Spin Mag), and his band the Wildabouts, will release their first album ever on March 31. Titled BLASTER, the album was produced by Rick Parker [Black Rebel Motorcycle Club] and recorded throughout 2014 at Lavish Studios in Burbank and at The Sandbox in Beachwood Canyon. BLASTER features twelve tracks, all but one were written by Weiland. Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts will hit the road in February in support of the new project, with tickets going on sale January 9 for the first 13 shows (see itinerary below).  Additional shows will be added, but the 2x Grammy winning, multi-platinum selling songwriter/vocalist Weiland and his band already have a busy spring, with previously announced shows at SXSW, the Sundance Film Festival and additional festival dates.

Weiland and the Wildabouts, guitarist Jeremy Brown, bassist Tommy Black, and drummer Danny Thompson, have a comradery fostered by years of jamming and touring together. After touring for several months in 2013, they hunkered down in Weiland’s Southern California studio and rehearsal space to write and record what would eventually become BLASTER.

“The album has its own distinctive sound,” says Weiland, “but it also can entice those Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver fans who have stuck by me. Over the years, I’ve gone back and forth between art records and being in a band. This is a hybrid. What we’ve come up with is really heavy, slinky, and sexy. There’s a lot of fuzz. The best way to describe it is ‘Furry’.” I knew I wanted to make a rock record,” proclaims Weiland. “It all just came together.

Scott Weiland has cumulatively sold over 44 million records worldwide with Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver. He’s garnered two Grammy Awards in the category of “Best Hard Rock Performance”—in 2005 for “Slither” and in 1994 for “Plush”. Stone Temple Pilots’ Purple debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 a feat also accomplished by Velvet Revolver’s Contraband. Weiland’s voice has driven some of the most recognizable hits in rock ‘n’ roll history including “Sex Type Thing”, “Wicked Garden”, “Creep”, “Interstate Love Song”, “Vasoline”, “The Big Empty”, “Sour Girl”, “Down”, and more. He released his memoir Not Dead & Not for Sale in 2011 to critical applause. Still, his most powerful music is yet to come with the release of BLASTER.

INgrooves Music Group Founder and CEO Robb McDaniels to Resign from Post

Robb-McDaniels-prSAN FRANCISCO, CA – Robb McDaniels, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of INgrooves Music Group, the leading global music distribution and marketing company, will resign from his post by year’s end, the Company announced today. McDaniels founded INgrooves’s parent company, Isolation Network, Inc., in 2001 and also oversaw the launch of the Company’s eBook division, INscribe Digital, and its enterprise software unit, IN Enterprise Solutions, which manages the digital supply chain for Universal Music Group.

“Over the past 13 years, I have led the expansion of Isolation Network into one of the most forward thinking media distribution, marketing and technology companies in the world, with more than 175 employees in 5 global offices,” said Mr. McDaniels. “But I am an entrepreneur at heart and with the Company in the capable hands of an exceptionally strong executive team; the time has come for me to move on to the next chapter in my life.”

“Robb is a rare visionary in the digital media industry, and we want to thank him for his tireless years of leadership building Isolation Network into one of the largest independently owned media distribution companies” said Jay Boberg, the Company’s Executive Chairman. “We are confident that the executive team Robb has assembled will continue to deliver for our partners around the world.”

INgrooves Co-Founder and General Counsel, Matt Burns, has been named to the position of interim CEO while the executive search is conducted. He will lead an executive team comprised of Chief Financial Officer, Ben Cary, and Chief Operating Officer, Vinnie Freda.
Mr. Boberg, who has been the Company’s Chairman since 2010, has been appointed Executive Chairman, will serve on the Executive Committee and will take a more active role in the Company’s strategic operations.

Founded in 2001 by Mr. McDaniels as a means to distribute popular European dance and electronic music recordings to the U.S. market, INgrooves has grown into the largest independently owned distribution and marketing company in the world, managing over 4 million songs for thousands of artists and labels. As a technology first company, they developed an early understanding of, and relationships with, the myriad of developing digital retail outlets in the evolving global marketplace, becoming a powerful tool for their clients to efficiently monetize their assets.

In 2008, Universal Music Group (UMG), the largest record company in the world, tapped Isolation Network, Inc. to manage their digital supply chain and digitally distribute all of their music in North America, via Isolation Network’s proprietary digital distribution platform.

In 2010, Shamrock Capital made a significant investment in the Company, which enabled INgrooves to acquire Fontana Distribution from UMG, adding more than 200 labels to the Company’s roster in North America and giving them a strong physical distribution service to offer clients alongside their world-class digital platform.

INgrooves Music Group is now a leading independent global distribution & marketing company, comprised of its Distribution Services, INresidence Artist Services, and Rights Services divisions. While INgrooves continues to set the industry standard as a forward thinking music distribution and marketing operation, INscribe Digital has signed more than 30,000 titles, becoming a major player in the independent eBook sector.

The new deal marks the first time a label has engaged INresidence Artist Services for its entire catalog of releases.

The partnership comes at a busy time for Roll Call Records as they prepare for a packed slate of releases in 2015. Top 5 Things Indie Labels Should Do To Maximize Their Music Monetization

  1. Today’s music marketplace is dynamic! Understand how to maximize monetization for all platforms.  Two key examples are YouTube and Spotify. YouTube channel maintenance should focus on: regular updates, thorough claiming procedures and integration with other social media channels.
On Spotify, fanbases should be built from within: get profiles verified, create dynamic playlists to engage fans, preview exclusive content on Spotify where appropriate, use the embeddable Spotify player across social platforms and explore the D2C merchandising opportunities that Spotify now offers.
  2. Music marketing mind-shift:  Marketing teams need to begin moving from driving “sales” to driving “listens”.  Placing streaming links across the web from playlist domination to fan-to-fan social sharing… driving the listen is the future.
  3. Capture additional and ancillary sources of incomes like publishing & neighboring rights. Also, be sure to consider and include all of your metadata for future opportunities (i.e., Neighboring Rights requires metadata that most labels have not captured anywhere over the past few years.  This is lost money!)
  4. Focus on your core fan base. Create focused D2C strategies and high value physical products (CDs, Merch, experiences, etc) for your core fan base(s). Stay connected to those fans by offering them something unique, as opposed to a simple anonymous sale in a shop.
  5. It’s all in the data! Use data to inform and market. Big or small, know how to analyze key data points from multiple sources and take actionable next-steps based on what you learn.  Look to break apart, aggregate, match, and compare data from social accounts and multiple revenue streams.
